TRANSPORT

ACCOMMODATION

In Cambridge we have arranged a preferential rate with The Cambridge Garden House Hotel. We chose this hotel because:

  • It has the best riverside location in Cambridge
  • It is central – between Queens College and Peterhouse College
  • It was recently renovated
  • It is the only hotel in Cambridge with a swimming pool and health & fitness club

To book with the Reach Cambridge preferential rate call +44 (0)1223 259988 and select option 1 – ‘Reservations.’ You can then either quote ‘Reach Cambridge’ or use the promotional code: REA1090010.

It is not possible to book online at the moment.

Should you find the Moat House is fully booked; an alternative hotel is the De Vere University Arms Hotel, which is a more austere building, but does not provide the same location and facilities.

When travelling around the country, we would always recommend staying in Bed & Breakfast establishments wherever possible, as these are the places you are likely to get the most authentic experience: www.bedandbreakfasts-uk.co.uk.

In terms of hotels, here are some higher-end chains: www.devereonline.co.uk, www.thistlehotels.com, www.hilton.co.uk, www.marriott.co.uk.

There are also a few hotel chains that are good on a tight budget: www.travelodge.co.uk, www.easyhotel.com (in London only at the moment), www.britanniahotels.com.

The Hostelling Association is very active in England and has some incredible properties. See these websites: www.yha.org.uk, www.hosteluk.com.

ENTERTAINMENT

EATING OUT

We always recommend seeking out local, independent restaurants, cafes or pubs. There are good directories here: www.restaurant-guide.com and www.london-eating.co.uk.
